We found it.
After six years of searching, three failed expeditions, and more bureaucratic bullshit than I care to remember — we found it.
The chamber is thirty meters below the surface. Circular. The walls are covered in symbols that shift when you look at them directly but freeze when you look away. I've never seen anything like it.
Dr. Morimoto says it might be a form of quantum entangled script — the symbols exist in multiple states until observed. That's the kind of theory you propose when you've run out of scientific explanations.

Two of the team members reported nightmares. Same dream — drowning in red light. I'm not superstitious, but I'm logging it.
*July 19, 1998*
The symbols are warm. Consistently 2-3 degrees above ambient temperature. I've ruled out geothermal activity — the stone is dry, no thermal vents nearby.
*July 22, 1998*
Morimoto touched the wall and his nose started bleeding. Nonstop for four hours. The medics can't explain it.
I've decided to close the site until we understand what we're dealing with.
But someone else has made that decision for me.
*July 23, 1998*
The site was raided last night. Not by locals — by professionals. My tent was searched. Someone took the photographs.
The symbols are gone from the wall. Not destroyed. ***Gone.** * As if they were never there.
Morimoto is dead. Heart attack, the coroner says. But Morimoto was 38 and ran marathons.
I'm writing this in a motel room 200 kilometers from the site. I don't know who to trust.
But I know one thing with absolute certainty:
The symbols didn't disappear. They were ***activated.** * And whoever did it knew exactly what they were doing.
